Hot off the press! As my achy legs heal from the soreness acquired on a two day trek to the peak of Seoraksan (소락산), I pounded out this multiple image composite of a pair of pictures taken on day one of the journey.

Seoraksan national park is Korea's most famous mountain and inspiration for many ancient poets, however, these days, it serves as punishment for those like me who underestimate the steep climb to its 1800m peak. I'm relieved the journey is finally finished, not because of a sense of athletic accomplishment nor to be rid of the pain my overworked knees endured. Instead, I'm relieved because finally, my relatives in Korea will get off my back.

Aunt #1: "Have you been to Seoraksan yet?"

Me: " "

Aunt #2: "You should go to Seoraksan before you leave Korea."

Me: " "

Aunt #3: "Seoraksan is the most beautiful place in Korea."

Me: " "

Ultimately, I am happy I went. Seoraksan is the equally beautiful yet miniature equivalent of China's Yellow Mountain (Huangshan) minus the hordes of Chinese tourists as well as a few thousand meters. But don't let the 1800m elevation fool you, the trek is - wait for it - no walk in the park... Thank you. Thank you. I will be here all the week.

More Seoraksan photos to come in the following days.

Ed. Note - Correction - Highest elevation is 1709m.
