A Tibetan woman's intricately braided hair.

An informal continuation of yesterday's post of photos that didn't quite fit in and therefore deserved its own space.

The look on the woman's face (left) says it all. What's more suspicious to her than a photographer that appears Chinese (me) snapping photos of Tibetans doing the Barkhor circuit. I received many disdainful stares from the Tibetan population. Note to self: next time, wear a Korean flag t-shirt.

Ancestor Appreciation Photo: The eldest living male in the family, in this case my eldest uncle, holds the responsibility to prepare offerings for Chuseok (추석) celebration. Here, he ritualistically pours and twice circles soju, a Korean rice wine, around incense to offer thanks to his father (my grandfather) as well as previous ancestors. Note the traditional Korean garb worn for the occasion called a hanbok (한복).
