The sun sets perfectly into the ocean.

I'm generally not into sunsets for the sake of sunsets. Other additional elements must necessarily be present in the photo for it to succeed. In this case, I simply wanted to bring attention to the near-daily perfect sunsets that occur in Southeast Asia, specifically, in Bali. Maybe it was a function of the time of year but for the 2 weeks I was in Kuta, the sun dipped unobstructed into the ocean without fail each day. Perhaps the perception of perfect sunsets is also a function of the frequency a person encounters them in a lifetime. Childhood near New York City and adulthood in California presented few perfect sun teabagging for me despite having lived adjacent to two oceans.

Again, I may be perceiving things but I think the sunsets are much more vivid in other parts of the world. Maybe this is due to the lack of airborne pollutants or even the presence of industrial chemicals illustrated by the skies at sunset in India.

This concludes non-Thailand weekends. Stay tuned for our regularly scheduled Thailand photos tomorrow from the greatest little island in the world, Ko Lipe.
