Gokarna is one of these unique places in India that attracts a wide array of tourists and travelers drawn to the perfect mix of sandy beaches and typically spiritual Indian lifestyle. The original foreigners to discover the place were hippies while more recently, the Russians and eastern Europeans invade this holy pilgrimage site. Over the course of a month, I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing some truly unique individuals, some staying living in Gokarna as long as 6 months and many returning year after year for as long as 25 years. From computer nerds to life dropouts, school teachers to Jain converts, stoners to teetotalers, Gokarna's foreigners run the full spectrum of the western world.
