A small wave crashes on boulders on shore.
On the opposite side of the island is Sunrise Beach. Its beauty doesn't match that of Pattaya Beach. Its sand isn't like Pattaya's fine white powder. The beach barely stretches but a few feet when the water reaches high tide. Yet, incomprehensibly, people still prefer to stay on this side. Can the once daily sunrise be enough? Or maybe it's the partially rocky shore that draws them.
A paddle boat makes for quick photographic junkets around the island.
I can't help but think of Fred Flintstone when I see my misshapen feet powering through those pedals. When the water is as calm as they are in the protected bay at Pattaya Beach, it's only a matter of time before jet-skis and other forms of package tourist recreation follow the paddle boats onto my little paradise island.
