A bird's eye view of the Pratunam shopping neighborhood in downtown Bangkok.
The point of this photo isn't the cliche "old versus new" architecture in downtown Bangkok. It's more to highlight a part of Bangkok that often goes neglected by bargain shoppers. The area in the photo above is a network of small streets and alleyways (locally known as "soi") connecting hundreds and hundreds of cheap stores carrying goods that heavily favor shoes and apparel - even then, leaning far more towards the apparel end. Where did I get my great looking $6 pair of jeans? Why, none other than here!
As I'm not personally much of a shopper (moreso a hasty "buyer-n-leaver"), I don't quite have the energy to traipse around for hours and hours looking for that perfect article of clothing. But if you are of the shopping-til-dropping sort, make sure you block off an entire day and wander the alleyways around the Pratunam area for heavily discounted purchases!
