A set of rocky islets near Daqiu, a bird watching destination, provide a home to a large assortment of terns on the Matsu islands of Taiwan.
Since the rediscovery of the Chinese Crested Tern, the area around Daqiu island has become a destination for serious bird watchers. The Chinese Crested Tern was previously thought to be extinct until its rediscovery on these very islets. Every June to August, the Chinese Crested Tern return to the Matsu islands for mating season hence that is the best time to catch a glimpse of these rare birds.

For the record, these are not the rare Chinese Crested Terns mentioned above. The Chinese Crested Tern are similar in appearance but with a distinct black tip at the end of their beaks.
