The Cathedral of Our Lady (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal) towers over grand place (groenplaats) square.

This photo was intended to be the second and therefore, less important image in my daily travel photos but I ended up liking this one more. The periphery of grand place square is lined with cafes and restaurants, all with some form of outdoor seating for those rare sunny days in Antwerp. Even the 3-floor McDonalds overlooking the square has covered outdoor seating, not to mention free wifi and electronic ordering kiosks aimed for those that don't want to have direct human contact ever. As an aside, I wonder if the management at this particular McDonalds realizes the irony of offering so many free amenities while simultaneously stingily nickel and diming you by charging €0.40 for the privilege of using the toilets... even for customers!

The nave of the Cathedral of Our Lady (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathdraal).

Straight ahead, above the altar, one of Rubens' famous works is faintly visible. Scattered around the cathedral (notice the red areas through the side arches) are some more paintings by Rubens as well as other notable artists. In case you were curious, yes, beyond all logic, it was colder and windier inside the church than it was outside.
