I've never been to sub-Saharan Africa but you take away the sarees and bangles and this can be any village from my imagination in Africa.

A traditional mud home in a nearby village located three hours walk from Khuri.

I wish I could remember the name of this village. From Khuri, walk due north for 3 hours and you'll see the village over the second sand dune. Those were the directions given to me and I managed to find the place alright. Just bring a backpack full of water if you plan on doing this mid-day. Walking through soft sand with the sun bearing down is absolutely exhausting.
