Phad ka prao gai: Spicy basil leaf chicken with deep-fried egg, a blindingly spicy staple in Thai cuisine.
My life began at age 24 upon the discovery of Thai food when I moved to California. At age 30, my life suffered a severe blow when I realized I couldn't recreate Thai cuisine in my own kitchen. Ever since, I've endeavored to fill every nook in my stomach and esophagus with life-giving Thai curries and noodles whenever the chance allows. Fast-forward to now and you can understand why I've gained a few pounds on this island by mixing 6 meals a day with a sedentary lifestyle that even a starfish would envy.
Gaeng Kieow Waan: Thai green curry with unidentified spherical vegetables.
Geographically speaking, rice (& noodles) from the far east and curries from the subcontinent meet midway in Thailand for unbelievable gastronomic results. Strange, however, that chopsticks never made it over.
