A Mongolian man provides phone service using a "cordless" phone (ARCHIVED PHOTO on the weekends - originally photographed 2007/07/10).
The phone service above is one of the stranger things I've seen in my travels. At the time this photo was taken, mobile phones had yet to penetrate far into Mongolian society. It seemed that most people who were out and needed to call someone used the services of guys like this who were found loitering along most major roads around the capitol. I have yet to figure out the technology behind the cordless telephone unit but one thing is clear: a private conversation is not possible.
