The Great Pyramid of Cheops is faintly visible through a thick layer of haze and smog.
On my fourth trip out to Giza, over 45 minutes from my downtown hotel, I snapped this photo to provide evidence for the complete lack of visibility on certain days at the pyramids. I didn't bother going any further on this fourth fruitless journey. Instead, I found the nearest sheesha cafe and smoked my morning away to the sweet tunes of Egyptian crooners on the radio.
The Great Pyramid of Khufu (aka Cheops in Greek) is faintly visible through a layer of smog and haze.
It took me by surprise when I first visited the pyramids in 2003 also. Who would've known the pyramids are directly adjacent to the bouncing metropolis of Cairo? More photos to illustrate this point in the coming days!
