The holy Phra Puttha Sihing Buddha statue is bathed and perfumed at city hall in Bangkok for Songkran.

I managed to tear myself away from the merriment of Songkran water fights and pasted faces to witness one of the holy and traditional aspects of Songkran, held at Bangkok's city hall. The queue was unbelievably long and the wait was further exacerbated by the 95°F direct sun exposure but the faithful toughed it out nonetheless for their chance to whip perfume at the revered Buddha statue. I, on the other hand, waited impatiently to snap this photo from the shade of a nearby tree then hastily rushed off to join the water fights once more.
